Washington State Stays Steady Throughout Competition

The Cougars held on to their placing throughout all three rounds of the Duck Invitational.

CRESWELL, Ore. – Washington State men's golf finished 13th at the conclusion of the Duck Invitational hosted by Oregon, Tuesday at Emerald Valley Golf Club.
 
The Cougars had a three-round score of 911 (+47), putting them just two strokes behind Long Beach State (+45, 909) in 12th. Oregon State managed to hold onto first, scoring an 861 (-3). Tournament-host No. 39 Oregon (+7, 871) finished in second. Boise State jumped one spot to finish in third with a three-round score of 875 (+11).
 
Junior Daniel Kolar (+7, 223) took charge during the final round to lead the Cougars by tying for 34th. Junior Nicklaus Chiam followed close behind in a tie for 43rd with a score of 226 (+10). Just one stroke behind Chiam was senior AJ Armstrong (+11, 227) in a tie for 50th. Junior Scott Redelsperger (+19, 235) tied for 76th and senior Grant Cole (+26, 242) tied for 85th.
 
Ryan Gronlund of Oregon finished in first with score of 211 (-5), just one stroke ahead of Cameron Kaneko (-4, 212) of Hawai'I in second. Nolan Thoroughgood (-2, 214) of Oregon State jumped nine spots to finish in third. The only other player to shoot under par was Sam Meek (-1, 215) of Nevada in fourth. 
 
Washington State has one more tournament before it heads to the Pac-12 Championships in April. The next time the Cougars step on the green will be for a three-day tournament Friday through Sunday, April 12-14 for the El Macero Classic, hosted by UC Davis in El Macero, Calif.
