SEATTLE – Over two days from Tuesday, June 25 through Wednesday, June 26, the 2019 Pac-12 Sustainability Conference will take place at the University of Washington. As one of the key components of Pac-12 Team Green, the Pac-12 Sustainability Conference will for the third-straight year feature a high-level symposium focused on elevating approaches and enhancing sustainability efforts within collegiate athletics departments, designing new collective initiatives and sharing best practices for transforming college sports into a platform for environmental progress. Leading off the two-day event on Tuesday, June 25 will be several interactive tours taking place around the Seattle area. Tour opportunities will include a choice among a Husky Stadium sustainability tour, a Union Bay Natural Area canoe tour and a Seahawks CenturyLink Stadium tour. Following the tours, an opening night reception will be held at Husky Stadium featuring a keynote presentation from Roger McClendon, executive director for Green Sports Alliance.

For the full daylong event on Wednesday, June 26, several themes and topics will be covered, including:
Pac-12 Team Green Annual Report | A Vision for the Future – Pac-12 Deputy Commissioner and COO Jamie Zaninovich will provide a welcoming address to begin the day, discussing the current state and future of Pac-12 Team Green.
Media, Marketing and Money | Lessons Learned in Sports Sustainability Marketing – Featuring several leading experts from the field, Colorado’s Dave Newport, Learfield/IMG College’s Megan Eisenhard and Alaska Airlines’ Kirk Myers will discuss best practices related to the marketing of sports sustainability.
Pac-12 Zero Waste Challenge Awards Ceremony – Also one of the core pillars of Pac-12 Team Green, the Pac-12 Zero Waste Challenge awards celebrate the promotion of sustainability efforts taking place on Pac-12 campuses with a competition each football and basketball season. Winners for the 2018 football season, announced in February 2019, will be honored during a special ceremony.
Student Athletes Driving Sustainable Leadership – In this special hour-long panel, student-athletes from Washington’s men’s rowing and Arizona’s women’s tennis programs will discuss how student-athletes can help drive and promote sustainable leadership practices.
Athletes Fireside Chat | Perspectives on Sustainability and Social Justice – As the final panel of the day, this hour-long discussion, delivered firsthand from athletes, will focus on a variety of topics related to sustainability and social justice.

Special rates for current Pac-12 member-university staff, faculty and students are available at $49 per ticket.
