Eight Swimmers Earn All-Academic Honors

CORVALLIS – Eight Oregon State swimmers have earned academic honors from the Pac-12, the conference announced Tuesday. Callan Jackman, Arianna Letrari and Madelyn Rainey were named to the Academic Second Team, while Felicia Anderson, Amina Bachir, Isabella Bishop, Brooke Hoffman and Fernanda Rodriguez were selected as Honorable Mentions.

Jackman notches her first Pac-12 Academic Second Team honor as a Psychology major with a 3.70 overall GPA during the season. Jackman also made Oregon State's Honor Roll for the Winter Term. In the pool, Jackman set season-best times in the 100 free (52.06) and the 200 free (1:53.34) at the Pac-12 Championships. Jackman also posted a season-best time of 24.25 in the 50 free at the Husky Invitational.

Letrari also earns her first Pac-12 Academic Second Team honor as a Management major with a 3.60 overall GPA. Letrari made the OSU Honor Roll following the Winter Term. In the pool, Letrari moved up to No. 5 in the OSU Record Book in the 200 fly with a career-best time of 1:58.20 that was set at the Pac-12 Championships.

Rainey rounds out the Pac-12 Academic Second Team honors for the Beavers as a Business Administration major with a 3.80 GPA. In the pool, Rainey set season-best times in the 50 free (25.88) and the 100 back (59.62) at the Pac-12 Championships.

Anderson earns Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention for the second consecutive year. The Marketing major holding a 3.40 GPA finished 10th at the Pac-12 Championships in the 100 back (53.50) to move into fourth in OSU Career Records and hit the NCAA B Standard. Anderson also qualified for the 2020 Olympic Trials after clocking a 1:02.60 on a long course at the USA Winter Nationals. Anderson finished the Pac-12 Championships claiming the OSU School Record in the 50 free with a time of 23.02.

Bachir earns Pac-12 Academic Honorable Mention in her first year eligible. A Psychology major with a 3.30 GPA, Bachir tallied a career best in the 500 free at the Pac-12 Championships with a final time of 5:07.69 while swimming season-bests in the 400 IM (4:37.54) and the 1650 free (18:12.76) that same weekend. Bachir finished the season with a personal record in the 1000 free with a time of 10:40.80 set against USC and Minnesota.

Bishop is a Pre-Mechanical Engineering major with a 3.50 GPA, and swam in all 12 meets this season. She set two career bests at the Pac-12 Championships in the 200 back (2:06.49) and the 50 free (24.46). Bishop finished the year with season bests in the 100 free (53.66) and the 100 back (57.11) at the Pac-12 Time Trials.

Hofmann earns Pac-12 Academic Honorable Mention for the first time majoring in Fisheries and Wildlife Science with a 3.60 GPA. Hofmann was named to the OSU Honor Roll following the Winter Term. She holds two spots in OSU's Record Book sitting at No. 9 in the 100 back with a time of 56.31 and No. 10 in the 100 breast with a time of 1:03.71.

Rodriguez is the last Beaver to earn Pac-12 Academic Honors while majoring in Kinesiology with a 3.60 GPA. She clocked her a first-place finish in the 100 breast with a time of 1:05.47 against Seattle U and SWOCC. Rodriguez also finished second in the 100 breast against Arizona with a time of 1:06.37.
