Monkhouse/Simo Named Pac-12 Pair of the Week

SAN FRANCISCO -- UCLA junior Savvy Simo (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif. / Torrey Pines HS) and sophomore Lea Monkhouse (Mississauga, Ontario, Canada / Lorne Park Secondary) have been named the Pac-12 Beach Volleyball Pair of the Week as announced by the league office today.
Simo and Monkhouse helped UCLA go 5-1 on the week as the Bruins split a pair of duals with # 2 USC. Other team wins came against #13 Loyola Marymount, #12 California, #19 Stanford and Washington.
The pair was the only pair between USC and UCLA to go undefeated at 6-0 on the week while not dropping a set and allowing just one opponent in only one set to score more than 16 points.
The duo is 22-5 on the year and has won nine-consecutive matches, all in straight sets, with eight coming against ranked teams and five against teams in the top 10.
It is the first-career honor for the pair and the second-straight UCLA duo to earn the weekly nod. It is also the 11th weekly honor for the Bruins all-time.
