Track & Field

Track Set to Host Utah Spring Classic on Saturday

Utes will split Spring Classic with Weber State (Friday)

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah track & field team will be back in action this weekend, competing in the Weber State Spring Classic this Friday, April 12, and then turning around to host the Utah Spring Classic on Saturday, April 13.

The Weber State and Utah Spring Classics will playout as a single meet that is split up in two different places. WSU will host a few events on Friday, while Utah will host the remaining events on Saturday. For a complete schedule of events at WSU, click here. "This is the split-meet situation with our team, along with Weber State," said Utah head coach Kyle Kepler. "We work together, as we have in the past several years, to essentially take all of the events in one meet and split them up into two meets. It should shrink the time down from a regular one-day meet and it works out well.

"It should be a great weekend with a lot of great athletes competing. If the weather holds up, people should be able to see some blazing-fast times. Our track always seems to produce some great times in just about every event. We are really excited to be hosting this event and look forward to people coming out and supporting the Utes."

Jackie Martin moved into the top-10 in both the 200-meter and 400-meter events, while Maya LeBar bettered her top-10 time in the 200-meters. Sarah Newton notched a top-10 time in the 800-meters, while Cara Woolnough moved into the school's performance list in the 1500-meter run. Poppy Tank and Bella Williams joined Feeny in the 5000-meter list and Kolbi Sims became the first Ute to move into the top-10 list in the long jump event since 2014.
