Men's Tennis Fall to No. 31 Arizona State

TEMPE, Ariz. - The 45th ranked University of Utah men's tennis team was unable to record a victory earlier today, as they dropped their match to No. 31 Arizona State, falling 0-4. With this loss, the Utes will now move to an overall record of 16-10 on the season, with a 2-6 record in Pac-12 conference play.

"Two guys down we fought like lions today, I'm proud of our effort," said head coach Roeland Brateanu. "We learned a lot and got better. We have a week off to get healthy and prepare for Ojai."

In doubles, the Utes were down early, as Arizona State was able to earn the doubles point. On court No. 2, Joe Woolley and Russell Benkaim were unable to record a victory against 81st ranked Tim Ruehl and Andrea Bolla, as they fell with a score of 1-6. Azat Hankuliyev and Dan Little then dropped their match at the No. 1 position to 8th ranked Dominik Kellovsky and Nathan Ponwith, with a score of 4-6. Moving into singles, the Utes then lost matches on courts 4, 5 and 6, to allow No. 31 Arizona State to complete the 0-4 sweep.

With this match, the University of Utah men's tennis team has concluded regular season play for the 2018-19 season. The Utes will be back in action next week, as they will compete in the Pac-12 Championship. This tournament will be held in Ojai, California, and will take place from April 24-27.
