LOS ANGELES - The Washington men's tennis team fell 4-0, to #13 UCLA on Saturday afternoon at Los Angeles Tennis Center. The Husky setback drops their overall record to 6-15, 1-5 in Pac-12 play.
Washington got off to a slow start in the doubles competition, dropping their first two matches before the Bruins claimed the doubles point. Freshman
Ewen Lumsden and freshman
Kasper Smith fell at No. 3 doubles 6-1 to Bryce Pereira and Patrick Zahraj. The senior tandem of
Kawika Lam and
Enzo Sommer came up short at the No. 2 spot, losing 6-1 to Rapp and Nanda.
The Huskies opened up the singles portion of the match, dropping the first two matches with both Davis and senior
Sebastian Hawken sustaining losses. In the last completed match of the day, Foley was defeated in No. 3 singles by Nanda in straight sets 7-6, 6-1. UCLA clinched the overall match with three other singles matches still in progress.
UW is next in action at home for the final two regular season matches of the year, to face Cal on April 19 at 3 p.m. and Stanford April 21 at 12 p.m.
