No. 16 USC Faces Sun Devils to Close Regular Season

The Women of Troy will honor seniors Emily Concialdi, Amanda Flayhan, Jackie Gilbert, and Gabbi Klein before first draw with Arizona State

LOS ANGELES – The No. 16-ranked USC lacrosse team (13-3, 8-1 Pac-12) sets its sights on the Pac-12's regular-season title and can sew up the league tournament's top seed with a win over Arizona State (5-10, 2-7) in Saturday's season finale set for a 2 p.m. PT first draw on McAlister Field. The Women of Troy will honor the careers and contributions of seniors Emily Concialdi, Amanda Flayhan, Jackie Gilbert, and Gabbi Klein in pre-game ceremonies.

The Trojans lead the Pac-12 and are 10th in the NCAA in scoring defense at an 8.30 goals-against average. USC is also first in the league in save percentage (.500) and scoring margin (+5.20 gpg). Nine Women of Troy have scored double-digit goals through 16 games including six players over the 20-goal mark. Team leader Kelsey Huff has 42 points on 36 goals and six assists. Sophia Donovan has racked up 40 points (27g, 13a). Hope Anhut has 39 points as the team's top distributor with 14 assists (25 goals). Emily Concialdi (25g, 13a) has 38 points. Huff also has 29 ground balls and 25 caused turnovers. Izzy McMahon ranks fifth with 33 points (23g, 10a) and Kaeli Huff has 24 points (21g, 3a) as part of a balanced Trojan attack.
 
All-American Kerrigan Miller does a little of everything for the Women of Troy. She has 16 goals, 38 draw controls, 44 ground balls, and a team-high 33 caused turnovers. In goal, Riley Hertford leads the league with an 8.71 goals-against average (9th in the nation) and tops all players with 3.31 ground balls per game. In the center circle, Jackie Gilbert has 93 draw controls and is second in the league at 5.81 per game. She also has 25 caused turnovers and 24 ground balls.
 
TRACK THE TROJANS: USC lacrosse fans can follow the Trojans on Twitter and Instagram at @USCTrojansLax. USC appeared in four live Pac-12 Networks broadcasts this spring: home games against Stanford (Mar. 25), Colorado (Apr. 5), and Oregon (Apr. 7); and a road game at Stanford (Mar. 31). LAST TIME OUT: USC trekked across the country for a matchup with No. 20-ranked Stony Brook. Despite a big 6-0 run in the middle of the game, and hat tricks from Kelsey Huff and Emily Concialdi, the Trojans fell, 12-10, to the Seawolves on Long Island. Kerrigan Miller had six draw controls, five ground balls, and five caused turnovers to spark the USC defense.

SCOUTING REPORT - ARIZONA STATE: The Sun Devils (5-10, 2-7 Pac-12) currently hold fifth place in the league standings and have room to move up or down one spot depending on this week's results. ASU plays San Diego State in a midweek non-conference matchup before facing the Trojans. Kerri Clayton is the Devils' offensive leader with 32 goals and 43 points. Emily Glagolev is ASU's top distributor with 23 assists (18 goals) on the season. Kylie Kroeger leads the team with 27 draw controls and 13 caused turnovers and ranks second with 28 ground balls. In goal, Berkeley Bonneau tops all Devils with 37 ground balls and has a .477 save percentage. The Trojans are 4-0 all-time against Arizona State and claimed a 15-3 win on the road in Tempe, Ariz., in the teams' last meeting on March 8.

HOME, SWEET HOME: The Women of Troy are 45-13 all-time in home games and are 41-11 at McAlister Field. Between 2015 and 2018, the Trojans won 23 straight games on McAlister Field. Including two wins at the LA Memorial Coliseum, USC claimed 25 consecutive home victories during the impressive streak.
 
SHUTOUT SHOUTOUT: The Trojans logged the first and only shutout in both program and Pac-12 history on April 7 with a 16-0 victory over Oregon at McAlister Field. Previously, the fewest goals ever allowed by USC was one in a 19-1 victory over Fresno State (April 20, 2013). Before the first season of Pac-12 lacrosse, Colorado recorded two shutouts and makes the Trojans' the first by a Pac-12 team since CU's 23-0 win over Saint Mary's College in the MPSF on April 15, 2016.
