Chu Finishes in Top-20 as Cougars Close out the Pac-12 Championships

PALOS VERDES ESTATES, Calif. – The Washington State women's golf team closed out the 2018-19 season with the final round of the 2019 Pac-12 Championships, finishing the three-day event in eighth place overall. The Cougars carded an overall 903(+51) through the three rounds, finishing ahead of No. 44 California, No. 35 Oregon State, and Colorado. The tournament featured every Pac-12 university that sponsors women's golf, including No. 1 USC which won the tournament team title with a one-under, 851, at the end of 54 holes.

Leading the way overall for the Cougars, freshman Amy Chu finished her first championship tournament in the top-20, tying for 18th with No. 84 Bethany Wu from No. 13 UCLA. The Australia native put together one of the most consistent tournament performances in Southern California the second-most pars in the tournament at 40 to go along with four birdies.

While Chu paced the Cougars for the tournament, junior Marie Lund Hansen paced the team for the second-straight day, carding a one-over, 72, during the third round. The Demark native's 34 pars and five birdies throughout the tournament brought her overall score to 225(+12) to tie for 30th. Joining Lund-Hansen in the 30th spot was freshman Darcy Habgood. The two Cougars tied with No. 91 Cindy Oh from California and No. 100 Clare Legaspi. Habgood put together 41 pars through the three-day tournament, tying for the tournament high for pars alongside of No. 41 Haley Moore.

Senior Madison Odiorne completed her final Pac-12 Championship as a Cougar, putting together five birdies.

Individually, No. 18 Olivia Mehaffey from No. 13 Arizona State won the individual title after coming from behind to beat Stanford's Albane Valenzuela in a playoff after the two tied for first overall at -4, 209.
