Washington Racks Up Runs In 13-3 Win Over BYU

PROVO, Utah  – The #3 Washington Huskies started their five-game week with a 13-3 victory over the BYU Cougars. SilentRain Espinoza set a career high with four RBI in the game, hitting her first career home run and driving in another with a single in the seventh. Morganne Flores hit her fourth career grand slam and 12th home run in the last 15 games as well.

It was a game of milestones for Taran Alvelo, who recorded her 800th strikeout and 95th win. She joins Danielle Lawrie, Jennifer Spediacci, and Ashley Boek as the only Huskies to reach 800 strikeouts in their career. She is now tied with Tia Bollinger for third in Washington history in wins.

Alvelo was her usual self in the circle, striking out 11 and walking none. Only one runner reached third base all game against the senior, coming via error in the sixth inning.

The offense started with Espinoza's home run in the second, with the Huskies only adding on from there. Emma Helm had two hits in the game for the Huskies, driving in a run and scoring another, with nine different players scoring runs. Madison Huskey had a two-hit game as well, including a double.
