EUGENE, ORE. – The CALIFORNIA Golden Bears vaulted into the lead after posting 12-under (343) in the third round and enter the final day at 15-under at the Pac-12 Men’s Golf Championships at Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Ore. The Bears hold a three-stroke lead over UCLA (-12) and are four strokes clear of third-place STANFORD (-11). California’s Collin Morikawa tops the leaderboard at 11-under after he fired a third round 7-under (64), and is one stroke ahead of second round leader UTAH’s Kyler Dunkle (-10).

• California began the day in third place, two strokes behind UCLA and Stanford, but Morikawa got the day started in the right direction when he holed out from the fairway to card an eagle on No. 1. Morikawa added six more birdies in the round and was 8-under after 17 and on pace to tie the course record (63), but gave back one shot when he bogeyed No. 18. On his performance today, Morikawa said, “I made a lot of putts out there. I made a long putt on 12, and if I had a long par putt or had to make an up-and-down, that’s really what kept the round going. When you have these rounds like this, you really want to keep the momentum.”

• California coach Walter Chun on what was key to his team’s performance: “Getting off to a good start. We were already behind Stanford and UCLA, so we needed to make up some ground quick. Thankfully with Collin’s eagle and some early birdies by James (Song) and some other guys, we got off to a good start and just kept the momentum going.”

• With its team score of 7-under today, UCLA has now posted a team score under par in each of its three rounds, thanks in large part to the success of a trio of golfers who find themselves among the top six on the leaderboard - Cole Madey (T3. -8), Eddy Lai (5. -4) and Devon Bling (T6. -3).

• UTAH’s Dunkle bogeyed two of the first three holes then rebounded to finish with three birdies over the final six holes of the front nine and added two more birdies on the back nine to remain in contention at 10-under. Dunkle responded, “I hit some poor tee shots in the beginning. This golf course is really penalizing if you can’t get the ball in the fairway. The first stretch of the golf course is some really challenging holes, especially if you are not in the fairway.” On refocusing after the third hole, “I was fighting in my mind on if I was playing bad or if the golf course was hard. So, I kept telling myself that the golf course was hard, and if I kept playing well that the birdies would happen.”

• Stanford’s Daulet Tuleubayev and OREGON’s Craig Ronne are tied for eighth at 2-under for the Championships, the low scores through three rounds by a freshman.

• The Championships will conclude with the final round on Wednesday beginning at 8 a.m. PT. Pac-12 Networks will air live coverage of the final round starting at 2 p.m. PT/3 p.m. MT.
