No. 4 ARIZONA vs. No. 1 UCLA
APRIL 25-27 • LOS ANGELES, CALIF. (MERLE NORMAN STADIUM)
MATCHES
Match 1 | Thursday, April 25 |
vs.
| W, 3-0
The 13th-ranked Arizona Beach Volleyball team will compete in its fourth consecutive Pac-12 Championship this weekend in Los Angeles, Calif. at Merle Norman Stadium. Seeded at No. 4, the Cats opened up play in the double-elimination tournament taking down the fifth-seeded Stanford Cardinal 3-0 Thursday afternoon. This win advances Cats to the next match in the winners bracket, where they will take on UCLA, Friday April 26 at noon MST.
"I think we're exactly where we want to be headed into this weekend's conference event," said head Coach
Steve Walker. "We've been extremely focused in our preparation day in and day out ever since we hit the heart of our schedule."
Should the Wildcats advance, they would take on the winner of No 1 UCLA's first round matchup vs. No.8 Utah or No. 9 Oregon on Friday, April 26th at noon MST. A loss would push the Wildcats in the contenders bracket on Thursday.
"We've played our best volleyball in the most difficult of conditions". Walker added. "There really isn't anything that can be thrown at us that this team can't manage and compete their way through. We are ready and excited to get the ball in the air and represent The University of Arizona and this athletics department the way we know how."
Serving Up the Facts
Arizona checked in at No. 13 in this week's AVCA Coaches poll and No. 12 in this week's DiG poll. This comes after the Cats wrapped up regular season competition going undefeated in the Boise State Beach Classic.
