TEMPE, Ariz. – Sun Devil swimmers
Grant House and
Emma Nordin were named to the 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Men's and Women's At-Large Teams, selected by CoSIDA, as announced by the association earlier this week. The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes ranging all four divisions for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom.
Â
The selections are the first in either's Sun Devil careers, and the pair are two of four ASU student-athletes selected to the team joining Anthony Croston (hockey) and Anne Kuhm (gymnastics).
Â
Nordin, a sophomore majoring in Biological Sciences (Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavioral Science), holds a 3.99 GPA in her coursework. The Indiana native also experienced a breakout season in 2018-19 in the pool, racing to several top times in school history in the middle and long distance freestyle events. Nordin also punched her ticket to the U.S.A. Olympic Trials last month, swimming a qualifying time of 16:36.69 in the 1500 free LCM.
Â
She is no stranger in excelling in the classroom as Nordin was also a four-year Scholar-Athlete and a National Honor Society member at Camel High School.
Â
House holds similar prestige in the classroom, holding a perfect 4.00 GPA as a sophomore majoring in Exercise and Wellness. The Ohio native currently holds four of the top-10 fastest times in Arizona State history in the 200 free as well as four in the 200 IM.
Â
Also set to represent the maroon and gold on the world stage, House will partake in the 2019 World University Games this summer after racing to the then-24
th fastest time in the 200 free LCM last summer.
