Washington's Myles Bryant was one of 42 college football players named to the preseason watch list for the 16th annual Lott IMPACT Trophy.

Bryant, a senior defensive back from Pasadena, Calif., has been a key member of the Husky defense since arriving as a true freshman in 2016. In his three seasons, Washington has led the Pac-12 Conference in total defense and scoring defense all three years. He has started 25 of the last 27 games and was named second-team All-Pac-12 last year.

The Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation announced the 42 candidates for the 16th annual Lott IMPACT Trophy at a luncheon at the Pacific Club in Newport Beach.

Established by The Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation, The Lott IMPACT Trophy honors college football's best in character and performance. The award is unique because it represents the first college football award to give equal weight to personal character as well as athletic performance from a defensive college player and is the first national college football award based on the West Coast.

The IMPACT award is awarded annually to individuals who demonstrate excellence in the field of athletics and recognizes college football's Defensive Player of the Year who best exemplifies the IMPACT acronym: Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.

Washington has had two finalists for the award over the last five years: Hau'oli Kikaha in 2014 and Ben Burr-Kirven in 2018.
