Two Flores Homers Help Huskies To Regional Final

SEATTLE  – The Washington Huskies advanced to the Regional final with their 6-1 win over the Mississippi State Bulldogs and will play for a spot in Super Regionals tomorrow night. Two home runs from Morganne Flores jump-started the Husky offense, while Taran Alvelo cruised to the win with seven strong innings of work.

In her 150th career appearance, Alvelo powered her way to her 25th win of the season. Alvelo did not walk a batter while striking out eight, throwing another complete game. The senior retired seven straight at one point in the game and only allowed multiple baserunners in the same inning twice.

Sis Bates, Emma Helm, and Flores combined for seven of Washington's nine hits, with Helm going a perfect 3-for-3. Bates scored on each of Flores' home runs. Madison Huskey also had a hit and a run in the game, singling in the sixth.
