The honor is the second for the Cougar golfer in the last week.

PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State men's golfer, AJ Armstrong, was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District 8 Men's At-Large Team, selected by CoSIDA, the organization announced.

A native of St. Alberta, Alberta, Armstrong becomes just the second Cougar golfer to earn CoSIDA Academic All-District honors, as Roger Flynn was named to the all-district second team in 2000.

The leader on the course and in the classroom for the Cougars, Armstrong became the first WSU golfer to earn Pac-12 All-Academic First Team honors in three-straight seasons since Jordan Madison accomplished the feat with four-consecutive awards from 2004-07. He posted the top grade point average in the Pac-12 in 2018-19 as he graduated in early May with a GPA of 3.82 while earning his degree in accounting. Armstrong was also one of 29 Cougar seniors to earn WSU's Senior Excellence in Academics Award and was named the Academic Services Male Student-Athlete of the Month for February. On the course, Armstrong ended his season with a 75.76 stroke average in 11 tournaments, finishing fourth at the Husky Invitational, the highest individual finish for the Cougars during the season.

The Google Cloud All-Academic men's at-large category includes student-athletes participating in fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling. This season's all-district team is made up of 11 student-athletes from golf, ice hockey, water polo, tennis, swimming and volleyball.  Armstrong is the only golfer on the team, and one of four honorees from Pac-12 schools.

Armstrong and all of the Academic All-District First Team honorees from all eight districts now advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.

The Academic All-District teams include student-athletes divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada.  The teams include NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants, while the College Division team combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.
