Scavo Finishes in Top-25 at NCAA Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - After posting a 9-over 82 in her first round at the 2019 NCAA Championships, senior Kathleen Scavo bounced back to finish in the top-25 of the leaderboard.
Scavo, who had tied for 66th in both her previous nationals appearances, charged up the leaderboard with a 3-under 70 in her second round before posting a 1-over 74 in her third and final round. Due to weather delays, the fourth round of stroke play was cancelled.
Scavo ended the tournament at 7-over, good for a tie for 23rd out of 132 total participants. Her 23rd place showing is tied for the fifth-best NCAA Championships finish in program history. Cassy Isagawa also placed 23rd in 2013.
Scavo opened her third round on the front nine and was even par until a birdie on No. 8 put her 1-under at the turn. She remained at 1-under until a birdie on No. 15. She was 2-under before a double bogey on No. 17 and a bogey on No. 18 pushed her to 1-over for the day.
Scavo had the best par-5 score in the tournament, averaging a 4.47 and an 8-under on 15 total par-5s.
For the tournament, Scavo posted one eagle, 12 birdies, 10 bogeys, four double bogeys and one triple. Her 12 total birdies was seventh-best in the tournament.
