T&F Competes at NCAA West Region Prelims Thursday

WSU will see 21 overall accepted entries headed to Sacramento.

WEST PRELIMS NEXT FOR COUGARS
 >> The Washington State Track and Field program will head to Sacramento, Calif. to compete in the NCAA West Preliminary rounds beginning Thursday, May 23, and will run through Saturday, May 25. The Cougars will total 21 overall entries at the West Prelims, in 15 different events throughout the week. Top entries for WSU include number two seeded Brock Eager (71.90m) in the men's hammer throw, the number eight seed Nick Johnson (13.77) in the 110-meter hurdles, the number 12 seed Peyton Fredrickson in the high jump, the number 17 seed Emmanuel Wells Jr. (10.26) in the 100-meter dash, the number 20 seed in the hammer throw, Amani Brown, and the number 24 seed Zorana Grujic (10:15.79) in the women's 3000-meter steeplechase. 

>> The Cougars round out the remaining entries at Sacramento on the women's side with the number 29 seed in the triple jump, Charisma Taylor, the number 35 and 36 seeds in the pole vault, Molly Scharmann, and Katelyn Frost, the number 39 seed in the hammer throw, Aoife Martin, and the number 41 seed in the shot put, Chrisshnay Brown. The WSU men will also include the number 19 seeded 4x100-meter relay squad, the number 21 seed in the 1500m run, Paul Ryan, the number 21 seed in the 400m hurdles, Christapherson Grant, the number 24 seed in the 200m, Emmanuel Wells Jr., the number 32 and 34 seeds in the 110m hurdles, Christapherson Grant, and Sam Brixey, the number 37 seed in the 3000m steeplechase, Kyler Little, the number 32 and 46 seeds in the high jump, Mitch Jacobson, and Keelan Halligan, and the number 39 seed in the pole vault, Jacob Englar.

WSU WRAPS UP 2019 PAC-12 CHAMPIONSHIPS
>> Emmanuel Wells Jr. made a great impact for the Cougars during day two, scoring 11 total points overall. Wells recorded a time of 10.26 in the 100-meter dash, which elevated him to seventh best all-time in Washington State history. Emmanuel then posted a PR in the 200m as well at 20.88 to finish fourth overall and record five points as well. WSU saw multiple athletes scoring points on the men's side throughout the evening, including in the 110m hurdles as Nick Johnson finished fifth (4 points) with a time of 13.89, and Christapherson Grant placing seventh (2 points) at 14.12 as well. Grant totaled three additional points in the 400m hurdles with a PR of 51.29.

>> Katelyn Frost brought home the highest point total for the Cougars on the women's side as she recorded eight points after placing second in the pole vault. Katelyn posted a mark of 13-feet 4 1/2 inches (4.08m), which is the fifth best mark all-time in WSU history in the event. Molly Scharmann and Emily Coombs each scored points in the pole vault event as well with Scharmann totaling five with a mark of 13-feet 2 1/2 inches (4.03m), and Coombs with four at 12-feet 10 3/4 inches (3.93m). Suzy Pace totaled 2.50 points for WSU in the high jump with a mark of 5-feet 5 1/4 inches (1.66m) to take sixth place overall.
