UP NEXT
Seven different athletes will represent the Utah track & field team this week at the NCAA West Preliminary Championships, which will take place this Thursday through Saturday, May 23-25. The event will be held at Hornet Stadium in Sacramento, Calif.
UTAH NOTES
• A total of seven different athletes will compete in eight events this week.
• Freshmen
Skyler Blair will open the championship meet competing in the first round of the 400-meter hurdles, which is set to get underway at 4:30 p.m. PT on Thursday, May 23. Blair is seeded No. 40 (59.72) in the event and will run out of lane No. 7 in Heat 5 (of 6).
• Next up will be the first round of the 1500-meter run, which is set to begin at 5:30 p.m. PT on Thursday. Junior
Sarah Feeny is seeded No. 4 (4:13.53) in the event and will run in Heat 1 (of 4). Redshirt Freshman
Cara Woolnough is seeded No. 47 (4:24.89) and will run in Heat 3.
• Another Utah duo will compete in the 800-meter run, with junior
Sarah Newton and freshman
Brooke Manson, set to run at 8:10 p.m. PT on Thursday evening. Newton, who is seeded No. No. 23 (2:05.88), will run out of lane No. 8 in Heat 5 (of 6), while Manson runs out of lane No. 3 in Heat 6. Manson is seeded No. 32 (2:06.77) in the event.
• Junior
Poppy Tank will round out Utah's competition on Thursday, competing in the 10,000-meter run at 9 p.m. PT. Tank is seeded No. 38 (34:21.21) overall.
• Sophomore
Bella Williams, along with Feeny, will compete in the 5000-meter run on Saturday, May 25, at 8:05 p.m. PT. Williams is seeded No. 46 (16:27.41) and will run in Heat 1 (of 2), while Feeny is seeded No. 8 (15:41.81) and running in Heat 2.

"Those are our qualifiers, all eight of them. We are certainly busier than we have been in the past and it is great to have that many. It is great to have so many young gals compete, in fact, all of them have at least a year remaining and few that have many more. It will be exciting to get them this experience."
"Overall I am really excited about this group. We are excited to get them there as Sacramento is a good place and has a good venue. Looks like weather is going to hold up and temperatures will not be too hot. It should be fun."
