Sophomore Kaito Onishi carded a 1-over 73 to pace No. 9 USC in the second round of the 2019 NCAA Men's Golf Championships on Saturday (May 25) at the Blessings G.C. in Fayetteville, Ark.
 
The Trojans, in their 12^th nationals appearance in 13 years, mirrored their first round and currently sit at 32-over 608 (304-304), tied for 23^rd in the 30-team field.
 
Top-ranked Oklahoma State leads the tournament at 10-under 566. No other team is below par. The top 15 teams after 54 holes will advance to Monday's final round while the top eight teams after that will advance to the NCAA Championships match play bracket starting Tuesday.
 
USC is seven back of 15^th-place UNLV, the last team above the cut line.
 
Onishi, 7-over Friday, bounced back with a 1-over to lead the Trojans and is now tied for 77th at 8-over 152 (79-73). He was 3-over at the turn after a double on 9, but found his stride on the back, making birdies on 10, 11, 13 and 14. A double bogey on 18, however, left him over par for the day.
 
Suh, who started the day tied for sixth at 1-under, is now tied for 23rd at 2-over 146 (71-75). He was 1-under through 5 before bogeys on 6, 7 and 8. He birdied 15 to get to 1-over before finishing the day 3-over.
 
USC couldn't find much momentum elsewhere on the course Saturday. Freshman Charlie Reiter was in the midst of a solid second round, 1-over after a birdie on 15, but he finished his last three holes at 4-over and is now tied with Onishi for 77^th at 8-over (75-77).
 
Sophomore Issei Tanabe is tied for 142nd at 17-over 161 and senior Sam Kim is tied for 148^th at 18-over 162 (79-83).

The Trojans will join Liberty and Georgia Southern in a pairing off of 1 Sunday beginning at 10:55 a.m.
