UCLA Selected to Host 2019 Los Angeles Regional

May 26, 2019 | Baseball

LOS ANGELES – Top-ranked UCLA has been selected as one of 16 sites to host an NCAA Tournament Regional, it was announced on Sunday by the NCAA. The Bruins will host a four-team regional at Jackie Robinson Stadium next weekend, May 31 to June 3 (if necessary), with the participating field to be announced during the 2019 NCAA baseball selection show which will air at 9:00 a.m. PT on Monday, May 27.

The Bruins will be hosting an NCAA Regional for the first time since 2015, when they were the No. 1 national seed. UCLA is making its 11th NCAA Tournament Appearance under head coach John Savage, who has helmed the program since 2005. This year marks the 23rd all-time appearance in the NCAA Tournament for the Bruins.

UCLA had arguably the best regular season in program history in 2019, posting a 47-8 overall record and a 24-5 mark in Pac-12 play. The Bruins set new program standards for regular season wins and conference wins, and won the Pac-12 Championship for the fourth time in the Savage era. UCLA enters the postseason on a 10-game winning streak, a season-best and the longest since the Bruins reeled off 11 straight to close the 2013 season en route to the program's first-ever National Championship.

The four-team, double-elimination regional will begin Friday, May 31. UCLA will face the No. 4 seed in the regional while the No. 2 and No. 3 teams will square off. The complete 64-team bracket will be revealed tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m. PT on ESPNU and WatchESPN.

Tickets to the Los Angeles Regional will go on sale at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 27. All-session reserved tickets will cost $90 for adults and $55 for youth, while general admission all-session passes will cost $70 for adults and $55 for youth. As is the case at all Jackie Robinson Stadium games, active duty military and veterans receive free admission with valid military/veteran ID.
