THIS WEEK: Justin Garces, So., GK, UCLA (Miami, Fla.)
• Made a career-high seven saves in UCLA’s season-opening 1-0 win over Northwestern.
• Forced to make five saves – his previous career high – in the opening 10 minutes of the second half against the Wildcats.
• Made back-to-back close-range saves on Northwestern midfielder Bardia Kimiava in the 47th minute.
• Entered his sophomore campaign having recorded the most wins (seven) and lowest goals against average (1.24) by a UCLA freshman keeper since 2000.
• Garces’ selection marked the second-consecutive year that a Bruin secured the first men’s soccer Player of the Week award, as former UCLA midfielder Matt Hundley took home 2018’s initial honor.
