Top-25 clashes, key matchups slated this week in Pac-12 women's basketball

• Five Pac-12 teams appeared on the NCAA’s Top-16 reveal, which was an- nounced during OREGON’s historic win over Connecticut on Monday night, the most teams for any conference. The Ducks were tabbed the No. 4 overall seed and the Portland Region’s No. 1 seed. STANFORD was ranked at No. 6, OR- EGON STATE was No. 9, UCLA was No. 11 and ARIZONA was No. 13. The Pac-12 boasts the No. 1 RPI in the country with seven league teams owning a top-50 RPI (as of Feb. 4).

• For the fourth week in a row, the Pac-12 has six teams ranked in the polls with four of them appearing in the top 10. The Ducks are No. 3 in both the Associ- ated Press and USA Today/WBCA Coaches polls, receiving one rst-place vote by the coaches. Stanford is ranked No. 6/5, the Beavs are No. 9/9 and UCLA is No. 10/10. Arizona continues to make its own history, earning its highest ranking since 1998 at No. 12/12 and ARIZONA STATE comes in at No. 19/21.

• Half the league’s games this week features top-15 tilts. The desert schools head to the state of Oregon for key rematches from earlier in the season on both Friday and Saturday. A top-10 matchup between UCLA and Stanford is also slated for Friday. Four teams are also deadlocked in seventh place in the Pac-12 standings, including COLORADO, UTAH and WASHINGTON STATE, as the Cougs host the Mountain schools. All matchups will be televised on Pac-12 Networks or can be viewed on the Pac-12 Now app.

• The Wooden Award late-season watch list features six student-athletes from the Pac-12, tying for the most of any conference in the country. Oregon is tied for the most candidate with three, last year’s Wooden Award winner Sabrina Ionescu headlining the list. Including the Ducks, four league teams were repre- sented on the list with Arizona and Oregon among them.

• Arizona’s Aari McDonald, a Wooden Award late season candidate, was voted Pac-12 Player of the Week for the second time this season after leading the Wild- cats to a pair of top-20 victories, including its rst top-10 win since 2004. USC’s Alissa Pili was the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week for the second time in three weeks. It marks the third-consecutive week a Trojan rookie has earned the award.

• No. 7 on the NCAA’s all-time assists list, Ionescu is looking to become the rst men’s or women’s player with 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds and 1,000 assists. Already eclipsing the 2,000-point threshold, she enters the week with 948 rebounds and 982 assists. Her rebounding and assists average are nearly identical, grabbing 8.7 rebounds per game and leading the country with 8.6 assist per game. She is also looking to become just the fth women’s player in NCAA history with 1,000 assists.

ROAD TO NEW ORLEANS
Teams across the country will be focused on getting to New Orleans this season, the site of the 2020 NCAA Women’s Final Four on April 3 and 5. To get to New Orleans, teams will have to go through regional sites in Greenville, S.C., Fort Wayne, Ind., Portland, Ore., and Dallas, Texas. Oregon State hosts the Portland Regional for the second year in a row from March 27-March 30, 2020, with specific dates to be announced. The first and second round of the tournament will take place on 16 campus sites with the top-16 seeds hosting, March 19-22, 2020.. The top 64 teams will learn their fates in the broadcast of the annual selection show on Monday, March 16, 2020.
