Pac-12 announces baseball players of the week

SAN FRANCISCO — The Pac-12 Conference office announced today that CALIFORNIA's Quentin Selma was named Pac-12 Player of the Week and UCLA’s Zach Pettway was tabbed Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week.

Pac-12 Baseball Player of the Week: Quentin Selma, Jr., 3B, California (Clovis, Calif.)
4 GP, .538 AVG., .667, .846, 1 HR, 11 RBI, 2 R, 5 BB
• Recorded the game-winning three-run home run versus St. John's (N.Y.), breaking a 7-7 tie in the bottom of the eighth inning to help California defeat the Red Storm (11-7).
• Posted 11 RBIs on the week, including a career-high five against UC Santa Barbara on Friday. His 13 RBIs this season currently lead the Conference.
• Earned two hits, one run, and two RBI in the Bears’ home opener against St. John’s.
• Selma earns his first-career Pac-12 Player of the Week honor, and the 81st all-time for the Bears.

1 GP, 6.2 IP, 3 H, 0.00 ERA, 13 K, 3 H
• Led No. 10 UCLA to a 5-0 win over St. Mary’s Friday Night, helping the Bruins remain undefeated. 
• Earned his first win of the season after striking out a career-high 13 players in just 6.2 Innings.
• Struck out at least one batter every inning, including a consecutive five, and struck out the side in three consecutive innings (2-4).
• Limited the Gaels to a season-low five hits. 
• This marks the first-career pitcher of the week award for Pettway, UCLA’s 79th all-time nod.
