Top Performances Countdown: Hodgkins Places Second At Betsy Rawls Invite

April 08, 2020 | Women's Golf

Kirsty Hodgkins turned in one of the best performances in school history at the Betsy Rawls Invitational in Austin, Texas, last October. Her 10-under-par 206, was the second-best score in school history for a par-72 course, and earns the No. 20 spot in our top performances of 2019-20 list.

The second-place finish for Hodgkins was the third of her career, giving her four top-two finishes with a win during her sophomore season at Coeur D'Alene in Idaho. With the result, she also became CU's career leader with nine top-five finishes, passing Emily Kerr's (2000-03) eight.

"The field here (in Austin) was much tougher than it was there (Coeur D'Alene)," head coach Anne Kelly said. "This finish in this field is very, very good. Considering how she was hitting in the practice round, she made a big improvement. I'm really proud of her. She played quite well."

On Oct. 12, the first of two days of the three-round tournament, she had eight birdies in two rounds and just two bogeys, both in the first round. She carded a 71 over the first 18 holes, but was 5-under during the second round with five birdies and 13 pars, shooting a season-best 67.

In the final round on Oct. 13, Hodgkins shot 4-under 68, helping lift the Buffs move up one spot to No. 6 in the 15-team tournament. She had six birdies and two bogeys to go with 10 pars in the final round.

Hodgkins went on to finish the season with a career-best 73.10 stroke average in 20 rounds. She had two top-five finishes in seven tournaments.
