Utah Track & Field Earns Academic Honors
NEW ORLEANS – The University of Utah track & field team continues to dominate both on the track and in the classroom, earning USTFCCCA (U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association) All-Academic Team honors Thursday. Seven Utes were also recognized for their individual achievements in the classroom by the association.
Among its peers in the Conference of Champions, Utah had the second-highest team grade point average with a 3.57 and narrowly edged by Stanford (3.58). To qualify, teams must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher for its NCAA squad list. This is the also the sixth-straight year the Utes have been honored as a team.
Skyler Blair, Caitlin Faust, Sarah Feeny, Brooke Manson, Jackie Martin, Sarah Newton and Sophie Ryan comprised Utah's seven runners that were honored for their individual performance in the classroom by posting a cumulative GPA greater than 3.25 at the end of the year. Other criterions included a minimum of two semester or three quarters completed at one's institution while finishing the indoor season ranked in the top-96 in any championship individual event or the top 48 in any championship relay event.
