USA Swimming News Release

Four Golden Bears have been named to the 2020-21 U.S. National Team by USA Swimming, with Abbey Weitzeil, Katie McLaughlin, Kathleen Baker and Isabelle Stadden all earning a spot for their performances in the pool.
Weitzeil is a member of the squad in the 50-meter free and 100-meter free. During her senior year at Cal this past year, she lowered her own American record in the 50-yard free to 20.90 seconds and received the Honda Sports Award given to the National Women's Swimmer of the Year.
McLaughlin, who completed her Cal career in 2019 with two individual school records in the butterfly to her credit, was named in the 200-meter free and 100-meter fly, while Baker, a four-time NCAA individual champion and two-time Olympic medalist, is listed in the 100-meter backstroke, 200-meter backstroke and 200-meter individual medley. Stadden is an incoming freshman and claimed her spot in the 200-meter back.
Combined with representatives from the Cal men's team, the Bears have more members of the U.S. National Team than any other school with 14 swimmers on the squad.
