Ten Bears Highlight U.S. National Team Squad

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Ten current and former members of the California men's swimming & diving program were named to USA Swimming's 2020-21 National Team roster on Wednesday, as the organization announced its 115-athlete squad ahead of the new Olympic year.
Seven of Cal's 10 roster inclusions are post-grad swimmers, including Nathan Adrian, Ryan Murphy, Nick Norman, Jacob Pebley, Josh Prenot, Andrew Seliskar and Tom Shields. The other three Bears on the roster are college seniors Sean Grieshop, Trenton Julian and Bryce Mefford.
USA Swimming made the decision to keep every returning athlete from the 2019-20 U.S. National Team roster, including Cal's 10 athletes, following the global disruption to the previous season caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Across the men's and women's national team rosters, Cal had 14 total athletes, which led all 32 NCAA universities represented.
"I am incredibly proud of the poise and commitment our National Team athletes and coaches have shown as we deal with this worldwide pandemic," USA Swimming's Managing Director of the National Team Lindsay Mintenko said in a press release. "Now more than ever, heading into this unique Olympic year, we have endeavored to support as many of our top athletes as possible and look forward to readying an exceptional team for the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2021."
