Now On The Tee: Junior Tristan Mandur
After a strong start to his junior campaign last season, Tristan Mandur is ready to get back to the course with the Utes after the Coronavirus Pandemic cut the 2019-20 season short. UtahUtes.com caught up with the Mill Bay, British Columbia native to talk about the upcoming season, what he was up to this summer, and what he likes to do with his free time.
Q: What has been your favorite tournament to play in during your time at Utah and why?
A: My favorite tournament to play in during my time at Utah is the Hawaii tournament, because it is the longest and you get to play some cool courses there and go to the beach with the team.
Q: What would you say you've improved on most from your first year to now?
A: I would say my course management on the course. I feel that I play a smarter game now.
Q: What is your favorite part about playing at Utah?
A: My favorite part about Utah is having lots of awesome golf courses close by to practice and play at.
Q: What kinds of things did you do this summer during your time off?
A: I went to lake with my friends and relaxed with my family.
Q: What are some of your goals for this upcoming season when you get back on the course?
A: One of my goals for this upcoming season when we get back on the course is to have a scoring average under 71 and to have a team win with an individual win.
Q: What do you like most about playing for head coach Garrett Clegg and assistant coach Chance Cain?
A: That they are honest about your game and help push you to the next level.
Q: Why did you choose Utah?
A: Because I felt it would be perfect to help bring my golf game to the next level, with the facilities, coaching, and competition.
Q: What is it about golf that you love?
A: I love golf because there is always something that you can improve and get better at.
Q: What are some of your hobbies outside of golf?
A: Playing basketball.
Q: Who is your favorite player professional golfer and why?
A: My favorite professional golfer is Tiger Woods, because he very exciting to watch, and is the best under pressure.
Q: If you could go pro in a different sport, what sport would it be and why?
A: I would go pro basketball because it is my second favorite sport, and it is a fun team game.
Q: What is your go-to club in your bag and why?
A: My go to club in my bag would be my Wishon 2 iron because it has been in my bag for long time.
