With fall classes underway at the University of Utah, the Red Rocks welcomed four freshmen to the program. Freshman Jaylene Gilstrap comes to the U from McKinney, Texas where she trained at Metroplex Gymnastics during her elite career. Gilstrap competed at the U.S Championships in 2016 and 2018, while also seeing action at the U.S. Classic and American Classic in 2015-16 and 2018-19. At the 2019 American Classic in the Jon M. Huntsman Center, Gilstrap placed third on floor, fifth on beam and seventh on vault.

Gilstrap placed first on floor, third on vault and fourth on beam and in the all-around at the 2018 National Elite Qualifier. Bringing international experience during her elite career to the Red Rocks as well, Gilstrap competed at the 2017 Championnat of France. At the international competition, she finished second on floor, third in the all-around and fourth on vault.
