Three USC Oarswomen Conclude Competition at 2020 European Rowing Under 23 Championships

DUISBURG, Germany--Three members of the USC women's rowing team competed on the international stage at the 2020 European Rowing Under 23 Championships over the weekend (Sept. 5-6).
 
 Ieva MedelinskaiteAnicka Mackova and Anastasia Slivina each represented their countries in the regatta, taking place in Duisburg, Germany. Medelinskaite rowed for Lithuania and competed in the quadruple sculls, while Mackova and Slivina competed in the women's eight, with Mackova representing the Czech Republic and Slivina racing for Ukraine. 
 
Mackova and the Czech Republic secured a place in the A Final of the women's eight on Saturday (Sept. 5) after having a fabulous race in the Repechage where the team finished in first place with Mackova powerfully leading from the stroke. 
 
On Sunday (Sept. 6), Mackova and the Czech Republic finished in fifth place in the A Final with a time of 6:38.89, just 11.53 seconds behind the first place finisher, Germany. 
 
Medelinskaite and Lithuania locked in placement in Sunday's B Final, where Team Lithuania placed second with a final time of 6:47.78. 
 
After Saturday's heats, Anastasia Slivina and Team Ukraine did not advance to the final rounds on Sunday. 
 
"It was fantastic that the women had an opportunity to race," said USC women's rowing head coach Josh Adam. "I know they each learned a lot, and we are looking forward to them being able to race with the USC uniform on again soon."
