Introducing U To Deanne Soza

Sep 11, 2020

Freshman Deanne Soza knew she wanted to be a Red Rock after spending the bulk of her childhood in Orem, Utah. Coming to the Jon M. Huntsman Center at a young age was just as electric as she had seen it during her recruiting process. Soza moved to Coppell, Texas where she spent the last few years before signing with Utah in November 2019 to make a return to her hometown and join the team this summer for voluntary training and summer classes.

Competing against the top of the nation year after year, Soza competed at the U.S. Classic from 2012-2018 and the U.S. Championships from 2013-18. In 2016, Soza was named a member of the 2016 U.S. Junior National Team for her continued success as a junior elite. At the 2017 U.S. Classic, Soza placed sixth on beam and eighth in the all-around. Following Classics, Soza went on to record a 10th-place finish in the all-around at the U.S. Championships.

Soza saw action in the Huntsman Center at the 2018 American Classic where she finished fourth place on vault. While a member of the U.S. Junior National Team, Soza competed internationally at the 2016 Gymnix International and helped Team USA win the gold medal. She finished second in the all-around, second on vault and third on bars in Montreal. For additional information on one of the newest Red Rocks, visit here.
