Thursday the Golf Channel released their preseason watch list for college golf's most prestigious award -- the Haskins Player of the Year Award -- and Sun Devils Chun An "Kevin" Yu and Cameron Sisk both are noted.

Kevin Yu made his third straight appearance in the U.S. Open Championship last weekend as an amateur. He is a fifth year senior (due to the pandemic leading to the cancellation of all spring collegiate sports and the NCAA granting all spring athletes an extra year of eligibility). In his career at ASU, Yu has a 70.4 stroke average in 38 tournaments, with 78 out of 116 rounds at par or better.

Yu has seen great success in the amateurs, as he ranks third in the World Amateur Golf Rankings. He was on a hot streak during the 2019 collegiate season with seven top-five finishes in nine tournaments, including a win at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational and a third-place finish at NCAA Championships. Yu has also seen success in non-collegiate amateur tournaments. He placed fifth at the Asia-Pacific Amateur, 18th at the Western Amateur, second at the Porter Cup, as well as 17th at the Players Amateur.

Junior Cameron Sisk received 2020 third-team All-American honors as just a sophomore. The San Diego native set an ASU freshman scoring mark in 2018-19 with 71.18 stroke average, won the 2019 Maui Jim Intercollegiate and Sonoran Showdown, was 2017 AJGA Rolex All-American, was chosen to the All-Southern California Junior Team, and is a member of the AJGA Wyndham Cup West Team.

Sisk is ranked 32nd in the World Amateur Golf Rankings and has made a strong 2020 campaign in amateur tournaments, finishing in the top 10 in two of the last three tournaments he competed in, which includes a fifth-place finish at the U.S. Amateur Championship.

Sun Devil Phil Mickelson won the award in 1990, 1991 and 1992 as he was a four-time All-American and three-time NCAA champion. He also joined Ben Crenshaw as the only three-time winner of the Haskins. He won the 1991 Northern Telecom Open as an amateur enabling him to go directly from college to the PGA Tour. This kicked off a legendary career that includes 50 victories, 44 on the PGA Tour, highlighted by three Masters, one Open Championship, and one PGA Championship. He was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2012.

Sun Devil Billy Mayfair earned the honor in 1987 as he won the 1986 U.S. Amateur Public Links and 1987 U.S. Amateur. He has won five PGA Tour events, including the 1995 Tour Championship. He was a medalist at the 2010 PGA Qualifying School.
