Hopkins Names Michael Bowden as Director of Basketball Operations
SEATTLE – University of Washington head coach Mike Hopkins has tapped Michael Bowden as the Huskies' Director of Basketball Operations starting immediately. Bowden previously served as Hopkins' Director of Special Projects for the last two seasons. In his current role, Bowden will oversee all aspects of the Husky program including travel, budget, academics, camp, player management, overall logistics and more.
Prior to joining the Husky staff in 2018, Bowden served as the Director of Basketball Operations at the University of Louisville for two seasons, which saw the Cardinals reach the postseason in each year. He also spent two years as the Director of Video Operations and as the Cards' assistant video coordinator.
Before joining UofL's staff, Bowden was the video coordinator for the University of Maryland women's basketball team. Along with his regular responsibilities in his role with the Terps, Bowden also served as the co-director of Maryland's women's basketball camps. During his time in College Park, the Terps reached the NCAA Final Four, Elite Eight and Sweet 16. He also spent time as video coordinator for the University of South Florida women's basketball team from 2009-2011 and worked for the University of Tulsa from 2008-09 as a graduate manager.
Bowden's career in collegiate basketball started while attending the University of Florida where he was a member of the Gator women's basketball scout team and assisted with film breakdown and scouting reports from 2004-08. While working with both of the hoops programs at Florida, Bowden earned his bachelor's degree in sports and exercise science with a concentration in coaching in 2008. While a student at Florida, he was also an assistant varsity coach at Buchholz High School in Gainesville, Fla. for two seasons.
He and his wife Stephanie have two children, Penelope and Maxwell.
