Camp Kyle Day 13: Tune-Up For Second Scrimmage
SALT LAKE CITY – Taking the field one day before their second scrimmage of fall camp, the Utah Football team on Friday used Day 13 of practice to fine-tune and advance in their mastery of the installation on a crisp Fall afternoon at the Spence & Cleone Eccles Football Facility.
Saturday's scrimmage will go a long way in determining more position battles as the team approaches the two-week mark before its Nov. 7 season-opening game against Arizona at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
Head coach Kyle Whittingham told the media in his Friday morning availability that the main objective in Saturday's scrimmage is to see progress and be "cleaner" than last week, specific executing better on offense and tackling better on defense. He said the coaching staff also would like to see some separation at all positions with the competition for depth chart positions.
Coach Whittingham said there will still be some "live" work next week, as necessary to determine any more separation at key positions, but with the team inside two weeks at that point until the opener that work will be scaled back as the focus shifts to specific preparations for Arizona.
