Men's Golf Hosts Virtual Fundraiser
BERKELEY – California men's golf is excited to announce its first-ever Cal Men's Golf Virtual Fundraiser. During any other fall, the program would be preparing for its annual in-person golf tournament and fundraiser, but this year the festivities will take place virtually from the comfort of your home on Thursday, November 19, at 7:00 p.m. PT.
"Ordinarily, we would have our golf tournament and fundraiser in person, but given where we are today, it makes sense to keep in touch with our Cal Golf friends and family virtually," said Alex and Marie Shipman Director of Men's Golf Walter Chun. "It's been through friendships and family that we have been able to get through the disappointments of the spring 2020 and fall 2020 college golf season postponements. The Cal Athletics Department and I want to do all we can to give our golfers the best possible springboard to get back to competition and compete at the highest level next semester. That will start with the virtual fundraiser on November 19, and, hopefully, end at the NCAA Championship at Grayhawk Golf Club. Thank you to those who can join us virtually."
The evening will feature a live auction with big items including a round of golf with PGA Tour player and Cal men's golf alumnus Max Homa. Furthermore, you will be able to bid on experiences such as four days and three nights at the luxurious 1212 Nashville, lunch and golf with Peter Tomasulo (former player on the PGA Tour and captain of the 2004 NCAA Championship team), joining the men's golf team at a tournament in the Hamptons in October of 2021 and much more. The event will also have special appearances from Director of Athletics Jim Knowlton, Morikawa, Homa, and Shane Bacon.
