Nov 2, 2020
Cal has announced its season captains for 2020 in Camryn Bynum, Kuony Deng, Chase Garbers and Michael Saffell.

BERKELEY – Camryn Bynum, Kuony Deng, Chase Garbers and Michael Saffell have been selected by their Cal teammates as captains for the 2020 season. Bynum will serve in the role for the second consecutive campaign, while Deng, Garbers and Saffell are first-time season captains.

"It's one of the ultimate honors to be selected as a captain by your teammates," Cal head coach Justin Wilcox said. "All four or our captains are very deserving, and I look forward to seeing them excel in important leadership roles. Several others weren't far behind in the voting and it's good to know that so many of our guys are considered team leaders."

Cal is scheduled to open a 2020 season delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic against Washington at California Memorial Stadium this Saturday, Nov. 7 (7:30 pm PT, ESPN). The game will be the first played in Berkeley in a nearly a calendar year with the team's last home contest against USC on Nov. 16, 2019. The Golden Bears last played on Dec., 30, 2019, when Cal wrapped up an 8-5 campaign in 2019 with a 35-20 victory over Illinois in the Redbox Bowl at Levi's® Stadium in Santa Clara.
