SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Utah men's basketball forward Timmy Allen was named to the Julius Erving Award watch list on Wednesday the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced.
The annual award is in its seventh year of existence and recognizes the top small forwards in Division I men's basketball. College basketball fans are encouraged to participate and vote in each of the three rounds with the award presented on Friday, April 9, 2021, along with the other four members of the Men's Starting Five.
Allen didn't show any signs of a sophomore slump last season, leading the Utes with 17.3 points per game to go with a team-high 7.3 rebounding average. The Mesa, Ariz., product also shot 44.1-percent from the field with a .722 clip at the line. He also recorded 92 assists, second-most on the team, and 38 steals last season. His 17.3 points average was good for sixth-most in the Pac-12 last year while his 7.3 boards average was good for eighth-best. Entering his junior campaign, Allen needs just 108 points to become the 40th player to record 1,000 career points in a Ute uniform.
