Cal is looking to get its delayed 2020 campaign underway Saturday night at Arizona State.

2020 Cal Schedule

SAN FRANCISCO – The Cal-Arizona State game scheduled to take place this Saturday, Nov. 14, is slated to kickoff at 8:30 pm MST/7:30 pm PST kickoff and be televised live by ESPN2 from Frank Kush Field/Sun Devil Stadium the Pac-12 Conference announced Sunday.

The contest is expected to serve as the Golden Bears' season-opener for a 2020 campaign already delayed on three occasions by the COVID-19 pandemic. Cal was most recently scheduled to begin its 2020 campaign with a home game against Washington at California Memorial Stadium last Saturday but the game was declared a no contest due to the Bears' inability to field a competitive roster following the results of one positive COVID-19 test and subsequent contact tracing. Cal's original schedule had the Bears opening at UNLV on Aug. 31, while the second version of its slate had Cal starting a 10-game conference trek at Oregon State (Sept. 26). Both schedules were eventually scrapped for the current seven-game model that began with four conference contests last Saturday.

The only two Cal campaigns that have started later (Dec. 2, 1882 and Dec. 12, 1892) included games played the following spring. The Bears have never opened a season in November and the last time Cal began in October or later was with a 21-7 loss to Fort MacDowell on California Field in Berkeley on Oct. 5, 1918, just over five years before the opening of California Memorial Stadium.

Arizona State has won the last two meetings between the teams including a 24-17 decision at California Memorial Stadium in their most recent matchup in a Friday night game on Sept. 27, 2019. The Sun Devils were also 51-41 winners the last time the teams met in Tempe on Sept. 24, 2016. The four years and 43 days between the 2016 and 2020 contests in Tempe will mark the longest Cal has gone between Pac-12 trips to any of its current 11 conference opponents.

Cal and Arizona State have squared off 35 times in their history beginning with a 31-22 Cal victory in the first ever meeting in Tempe on Sept. 25, 1976. Prior to Arizona State's current two-game win streak, the Bears had won 10 of the previous 13 contests in the series including their most recent victory in a 48-46 comeback win in Berkeley on Nov. 28, 2015.

Cal's remaining scheduled games during its conference-only 2020 schedule include road trips to Oregon State (Nov. 21) and Washington State (Dec. 12) sandwiching back-to-back home contests against Stanford (Fri., Nov. 27, 1 pm FOX) and Oregon (Dec. 5). The Pac-12 Championship Game will be a home-hosted model televised nationally by FOX and played on Friday, Dec. 18. Each of the league's 10 teams not involved in the title tilt will play on Saturday, Dec. 19, with matchups and other details to be announced at a later date.

All currently scheduled Cal contests other than the 123rd Big Game against Stanford will take place on Saturdays with remaining unannounced kickoff times and television broadcast networks to be unveiled either six or 12 days in advance. Under current state and Pac-12 protocols, fans will be not allowed to attend 2020 Cal home games in person.

Radio broadcasts of all Cal football games can be heard live on KGO 810 AM, the Cal Bears Sports Network powered by Learfield IMG College, Sirius XM satellite radio and CalBears.com via TuneIn.
