Utes in the NFL: Week 9 Review, Week 10 Preview

SALT LAKE CITY – Week 10 of the 2020 NFL season is set to bring some key matchups as teams continue to jockey for position in their respective divisions, as several Utes and their teams are sitting in first among the league.

Zack Moss and the Buffalo bills are sitting at the top of the AFC East with a two-game lead (7-2) while Eric Rowe and the Miami Dolphins are sitting in second at 5-3. In the AFC South, Tennessee holds a one-game lead ahead of Julian Blackmon and the Indianapolis Colts with the two teams battling it out on Thursday night football this week.

In the NFC, Marcus Williams and the New Orleans Saints will look to win their sixth straight game this week when taking on San Francisco in hopes to pass Tampa Bay for the top spot in the NFC South while Seattle and Cody Barton continue to hold onto the lead in the NFC West (6-2).

Through nine weeks, Utah's secondary has continued to show out with both Jaylon Johnson and Eric Rowe ranking in the top-10 in the league in passes defended. Johnson is tied for second overall and first among rookies with 12 passes defended while Rowe is tied for ninth with nine.

Marcus Williams also had a strong performance for the New Orleans Saints in their 38-3 win over Tampa Bay, notching his second interception of the season with both coming against the Buccaneers. His 12th career interception came at the end of the second quarter, picking off Tom Brady on the New Orleans 15-yard line.

On offense, Moss has scored three touchdowns in the last two games, including a one-yard rushing score against Seattle this past week. He punched in his touchdown to start the fourth quarter, giving Buffalo a 34-20 cushion with the Bills eventually winning 44-34.

Alex Smith entered the game for Washington when starter Kyle Allen went down with an injury at the end of the first quarter, seeing action in his 168th career game in the NFL. Smith finished the game 24-of-32 passing for 325 yards and a 68-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter, his first since Nov. 11 of 2018.

Devontae Booker scored his first touchdown of the season in Las Vegas's win over the Los Angeles Chargers, finishing the game with eight carries for 68 yards, averaging 8.5 yards per carry. Booker was able to put the Raiders up with 4:42 remaining in the first quarter this past week, breaking free for a 23-yard TD run.
