Tomasevic Brings in Best Signing Class in Five Years For Sun Devils

Sun Devil Signees (Fall of 2020 and Spring of 2021)

TEMPE, Ariz. - Sun Devil Volleyball and head coach Sanja Tomasevic have announced the signing of four newcomers to National Letters of Intent (NLI) who make up the best signing class at Arizona State since 2015.

"We are super excited to have the highest ranked class in our recent history," Tomasevic said. "But more importantly, we are excited to finally have these ladies at ASU. We've known them since they were all 15, and it's an exciting thing to see them all grow and develop into amazing young ladies that are eager to compete for the maroon and gold and, of course, to win."

With Meadow Cooper, Allie Gray, Geli Cyr and Andi Kreiling joining the 2021 roster, the Sun Devils boast their best signing class under Tomasevic, earning an honorable mention nod on PrepVolleyball.com's list of the top 2020 signing classes. In this class, there are two state champions, three AVCA Under Armour All-Americans and four AVCA Under Armour All-American All-Region honorees, as well as many all-state, all-district and all-conference accolades across all five playing careers. 
 

Meadow Cooper
Temecula, Calif. | Temecula Valley HS | Libero | 5-7

  • Named the MVP on her high school team in 2018.
  • Plays with Wave Volleyball Club.
  • Has also played beach volleyball competitively.
  • Placed in the top five at four different beach volleyball tournaments, including a first-place finish in 2018.
  • Her parents are Kevin and Autumn and she is an only child. 
  • She hopes to study business and environmental science.

Tomasevic: "Meadow is a great kid, student and athlete. She will add depth to our libero position and we are super excited about that. Meadow knows how to compete hard and knows how to win. Her experience competing and practicing with WAVE is going to be very valuable once she gets into our gym."
 

Allie Gray
Omaha, Neb. | VJ and Angela Skutt Catholic HS | Setter | 5-11

  • Helped her high school team to four state championships.
  • Named to the 2020 AVCA Under Armour All-American Third Team and All-Region Team.
  • A four-year varsity player and current team captain, she has averaged 12.3 assists per set and has accumulated 3,249 total assists.
  • Named to the Journal Star's 2020 State All-Tournament Team.
  • Her high school team entered the 2020 season ranked No. 1 nationally in the American Volleyball Coaches Association/USA Today poll.
  • In her junior season, had the second-most assists in the state with 1,225.
  • Named to the 2019 All-Nebraska volleyball team.
  • No. 34 on PrepVolleyball's list of the top 150 2021 recruits.
  • Plays club with Nebraska Elite Volleyball.
  • Distinguished Honor Roll recipient from 2017-20.
  • Vice President of National Honors Society.
  • Her parents are John and Mary Jo and she has four older siblings.
  • Her full name is Allison.
  • She hopes to pursue a career in sports performance or psychology.

Tomasevic: "Allie is one of the most decorated setters to ever come to ASU. She is currently setting for the No. 1 high school team in the country and led them to another successful season. She has everything it takes to be a great setter, and we are excited to finally have her on campus in 2021. Allie's desire to win and to be the best is contagious and is going to fit well with the players we currently have in the gym."
 

Geli Cyr
Flower Mound, Texas | Flower Mound HS | Outside Hitter | 5-10

  • Named to the 2020 AVCA Under Armour All-American Honorable Mention list and All-Region Team.
  • Led her high school team to win the 2018 Texas 6A state title.
  • Earned 2019 First Team All-State honors.
  • Named to the Max Preps All-American Team.
  • Named to the UA All-American Watch List and Max Preps Preseason First team.
  • Three-year varsity athlete, has a .278 hitting percentage, 1,012 kills, 1,033 digs and 993 service aces over the three seasons.
  • Earned MVP at Battle for the Rock tournament in 2019.
  • Plays club volleyball with TAV.
  • Helped her team to second place at the 2019 Girls Junior National Championship Open.
  • No. 105 on PrepVolleyball's 2021 top 150 list.
  • Full name is Angelique. 
  • Her parents are Ken and Annette and she has one younger brother, Nicholas.
  • Hopes to study business and human engineering

Tomasevic: "Geli is a great all-around player who had a lot of success early in high school and club. She knows what it takes to play at the highest level, with her club TAV competing for titles year in and year out. I am very excited to take Geli's skills to the next level and see her excel in the Pac-12."
 

Andi Kreiling
Kearney, Mo. | Kearney HS | Middle Blocker | 6-3

  • Named to the 2020 AVCA Under Armour All-American Honorable Mention list and All-Region Team.
  • Ranked No. 3 on the 2020 PrepDig Kansas City Metro Top 6 of 2021.
  • Named the seventh best high school player in the state by 2020 PrepDig Missouri.
  • Averaged 4.4 kills per set with a .349 hitting percentage in her senior season and had a high school career cumulative hitting percentage of .355 and 189 blocks.
  • Named First Team All-State, All-District and All-Conference in 2019.
  • Earned First Team All-District and Second Team All-Conference in 2018, Honorable Mention All-Conference in 2017.
  • Plays club with KC Power.
  • Also swam in high school, was a state medalist in 2018 and 2019, and named First Team All-Conference and All-State in both 2018 and 2019.
  • Record holder at her high school for 50 and 100 freestyle, 200 medley, and 200 and 400 free relay.
  • Earned Academic All-State from 2017-19 in volleyball and 2018-19 in swim.
  • Is in the top 20 percent of her class academically with a 4.0 GPA.
  • Parents are David and Jill and he has one younger brother, Cory.
  • Plans to study science or engineering.

Tomasevic: "Andi is a great student and a multi-sport athlete that had to manage a lot throughout high school to make sure she is successful. In many ways, that is like playing in the Pac-12, having to manage a lot and still find a way to be successful on and off the court. Our plan is to redshirt Andi in her first season and have her ready to compete in the 2022 season."
