Nov 11, 2020

TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Arizona Women's Golf team added to its diverse and international roster by signing a pair of incoming freshmen from France and Italy. French golfer Lilas Pinthier as well as Italian standout Carolina Melgrati will join Coach Ianello and the Wildcats next season. The two Europeans will join a roster that currently lists student-athletes from Taiwan, England and Lithuania.

"We are very excited to add Carolina Melgrati from Italy and Lilas Pinthier from France to our Arizona Women's Golf roster," said Head Coach Laura Ianello. "Both of these young ladies are some of the best junior players in the world, and they have won many times on an international stage.  Carolina is on the Italian national team and currently won the Italian Trofeo Silvio Marazza.  Lilas is on the French National team and follows a long line of talent from France to play for the Wildcats.  Lilas competed for team Europe in the 2019 Jr. Solheim Cup and won the 2020 Spanish interNational Ladies Amateur Championship."

Pintheir is a member of the French national team and a 2019 Junior Solheim Cup Team member. She ranks in the top 150 of the World Amateur rankings.

Melgrati has played on the Italian national team with a pair of wins at the 2020 Italian Ladies Match Play Championship and the 2020 U18 Italian Stroke Play Championship last summer. She is currently ranked in the top 100 of the World Amateur rankings.
