Game Updates: Colorado at Stanford

- The Colorado Buffaloes (1-0, 1-0 Pac-12) are coming off a 48-42 home win over the UCLA Bruins. Stanford (0-1, 0-1 Pac-12) fell at Oregon, 35-14, last week.
- In the previous meeting between these two programs on November 9, 2019, Colorado was able to pull out a win with a nail biting 16-13 victory. This was thanks to a last second field goal from then redshirt freshman, Evan Price, who went 3-3 on the day.
- Head coach of the Buffaloes, Karl Dorrell, was able to get his first victory with the program last week against UCLA.
- Senior QB Sam Noyer got hist first victory as a starting collegiate QB last week in a game where he threw for 257 yards and rushed for 64.
- Sophomore running back, Jarek Broussard, made a statement in the opener with a three touchdown performance. Broussard ran for 187 yards and was named Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week.

Start of Game:
1Q: Field Goal Stanford. Cardinal QB Davis Mills helped Stanford move the ball down the field through the air on the ground. On third down, Nate Landman for the Buffaloes pressured Mills to throw a pass that was broken up by Mekhi Blackmon. Field goal attempt from Jet Toner was good. Stanford lead 3-0 with 11:45 remaining in the 1st quarter.
1Q: Colorado Punt. The Buffs began their drive from their own 23 yard line. The Buffs were unable to get much positive yardage on this drive and went three and out. Punt from Josh Watts went 47 yards to the Stanford 26 yard line. 1st and 10 Cardinal.
1Q: Stanford Punt. After getting 9 yards on first and second down. The Buffs were able to force an incompletion on 3rd and 1 from Mills and forced the Cardinal to punt. Punt from Ryan Sanborn went 50 yards and the Buffs will begin their drive from their own 21 yard line. 1st and 10 CU.
1Q: Turnover Colorado. After a penalty helped the Buffs move the ball to the Stanford 48 yard line, QB Sam Noyer was pressured by the Stanford defense and threw an off balance throw down field. Pass was intercepted by Malik Antoine of Stanford. 1st and 10 Cardinal from their own 10 yard line.
1Q: Stanford Punt. The CU defense played strong defense on this drive not allowing the Cardinal to go anywhere. On third down, the Buffs broke up a pass from Mills and forced a punt. Punt from Sanborn went 47 yards and was downed at the CU 40 yard line. 1st and 10 CU with 6:25 remaining in the 1st quarter.
1Q: Defense continues to be the story of this game thus far. Both teams exchanged three and outs and following a Stanford punt, the Buffs began their drive at their won 43 yard line.
1Q: Touchdown Colorado. On the second play of the ensuing drive, Sam Noyer dropped back on the second play and threw a dart to WR Dimitri Stanley who exploded after the catch down the field and into the end zone for a 55 yard touchdown. PAT from Evan Price was good. Colorado leads 7-3 with 3:20 remaining in the 1st quarter.
1Q: End of quarter. A facemask penalty from Colorado as well as strong play on the ground and in the air for Stanford, helped the Cardinal move the ball down to the CU 16 yard line. 1st and 10 Stanford.

2Q: Field goal Stanford. The Colorado defense came up big and did not allow the Cardinal to punch the ball into the end zone. Stanford attempted a field goal and a 33 yard attempt from Toner was good. Colorado leads 7-6 with 14:13 remaining in the 2nd quarter.
2Q: Touchdown Colorado. Colorado began this drive at their own 25 yard line. Noyer was able to make several big completions on this drive, including one to Stanley for 16 yard and one to La'Vontae Shenault for 29 yards. Broussard ran the ball well and found some holes to push the ball to the Cardinal 7 yard line. From there, Noyer kept the ball and found the endzone on a 7 yard rush. PAT from Price was good. Colorado leads 14-6 with 9:36 remaining in the 2nd quarter.
2Q: Field goal Stanford. Carson Wells for the Buffaloes was able to come up with Colorado's first sack of the afternoon. This didn't mean much as Mills went on to find Simi Fehoko for a 34 yard completion. The Cardinal continued to move the ball all the way down to the CU 5 yard line where the Buffs were able to come up with a crucial third down stop and force Stanford to another field goal. Toner was able to convert on the field goal attempt. Colorado leads 14-9 with 4:38 remaining in the 2nd quarter.
2Q: Colorado Punt. Following the field goal, Stanford's defense did not allow the Buffs to move the ball anywhere, forcing another three and out. Punt from Watts went 50 yard and out-of-bounds at the Stanford 25 yard line. 1st and 10 Cardinal.
2Q: Stanford Punt. Stanford was able to move the ball near midfield thanks to a few completions from Mills. Following this, Colorado junior defensive end Terrance Lang came up with a huge third down hit on Austin Jones to force Stanford to punt. Colorado will begin their drive at their own 20 yard line.
2Q: End of quarter. The Buffs began their drive with 1:50 left in the 2nd quarter. They were able to move the ball into Stanford territory and attempted a last second throw to try and get a touchdown. Noyer's pass fell incomplete as time expired. Colorado head into the locker room leading 14-9.

3Q: Touchdown Colorado. Colorado began their drive at their own 25 yard line. Colorado ran a balanced attack on their opening 2nd half drive. Noyer was able to make several key completions and arn the ball strong as well. Noyer capped off a 9 play, 75 yard drive, with a 10 yard touchdown run on a quarterback keeper for his second rushing touchdown of the afternoon. PAT from Price was good. Colorado leads 21-9 with 11:32 remaining in he 3rd quarter.
3Q: Stanford Punt. Mills and the Stanford offense struggled to get any momentum going. The Buffs defense came up with another third down stop and forced a punt. Colorado will begin their drive at their own 39 yard line.
3Q: Touchdown Colorado. It did not take the Buffs long to extend their lead. Noyer began the drive with a 22 yard completion on the sideline to Stanley. After a Broussard 5 yard rush, Noyer dropped back and found a wide open Brenden Rice for the first touchdown of the receiver's young career. PAT from Price was good. Colorado leads 28-9 with 8:55 remaining in the 3rd quarter.
3Q: Touchdown Stanford. The Cardinal are not going away easily. In a drive that started at their own 18 yard line, Mills was able to convert on some important 3rd downs and avoid big plays from an aggressive Colorado defense. From the two yard line, Mills kept the ball and ran to the left side of the field and into the end zone for a 2 yard touchdown rush. PAT from Toner was good. Colorado leads 28-16 with 4:35 remaining in the 3rd quarter.
3Q: End of quarter. Broussard has highlighted this drive for the Buffaloes so far, rushing for 43 yards on 4 carries and helping move the ball down to the Stanford 2 yard line. 2nd and goal at the 2 yard line. End of 3rd quarter. Colorado leads 28-16.

4Q: Touchdown Colorado. On the first play of the 4th quarter, Jaren Mangham was able to find a hole up the middle and get into the end zone for his second touchdown of the year. PAT from Price was good. Colorado leads 35-16 with 14:58 remaining in the 4th quarter.
4Q: Turnover on downs. Stanford was able to move the ball to midfield before hitting a wall and not being able to move the ball any further. Stanford went for it on 4th and 2 from the 50 yard line and a pass from Mills was broken up by Blackmon of CU. Colorado will take over on downs from the 50 yard line. 1st and 10 with 13:32 remaining in the 4th quarter.
4Q: Colorado Punt. For the first time in the second half, the Cardinal were able to hold the Buffalo offense and force a punt. Punt from Watts went 30 yards and was downed at the Stanford 27 yard line. 1st and 10 Cardinal with 11:53 remaining in the 4th quarter.
4Q: Touchdown Stanford. Stanford moved the ball closer to midfield before again being forced to go for it on 4th down. This time they were able to convert on a 10 yard completion to Fehoko. The Cardinal continued to move the ball down the field and thanks to a pass interference penalty from Colorado, had the ball moved down to the 2 yard line. After that, Jones ran the ball into the end zone for a 2 yard touchdown. Standford then went for two and converted the two point conversion. Colorado leads 35-24 with 8:45 remaining in the 4th quarter.
4Q: Colorado Punt. Colorado used aggressive running from Broussard to take a good amount of time off the clock. However, the Stanford defense came up with a strong 3rd down stop and forced Colorado to punt the ball back to the Cardinal. Stanford will begin their drive from their own 20 yard line. 1st and 10 Stanford with 5:49 remaining in the 4th quarter.
4Q: Touchdown Stanford. Mills led this drive for the Cardinal with some crucial completions and accurate throwing. They were able to march down the field to the 2 yard line and went for it on 4th down. On 4th down, pass interference was called on Colorado and gave the Cardinal a fresh set of downs from the 1 yard line. Mills was then able to find Scooter Harrington for a 1 yard touchdown. Stanford went for two once again and was able to convert on a completion to Tucker Fisk. Colorado leads 35-32 with 2:34 remaining in the 4th quarter.
4Q: End of game. Colorado wins. The Buffs got the ball back with hopes of running out the clock and securing victory. However, the Cardinal defense were able to stop the Buffaloes on 3rd down and force a punt. With only 10 seconds left, Stanford attempted a series of lateral passes in hopes of finding the end zone but the Buffs were able to break the play up and end the game. End of 4th quarter. Colorado wins 35-32.
