Aztecs Sign Rommee Jaridly to NLI
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Head coach Ryan Hopkins has announced the signing of Rommee Jaridly, a forward from Chino Hills, Calif.
"We are thrilled that Rommee will be joining us," Coach Hopkins said. "He comes from a club at Strikers FC that has an unparalleled track record of preparing their student-athletes for college soccer and the next step in their lives. Rommee lives by the core values of our program already so that transition will be much simpler as we continue to build a blue collar and team-first mentality here at SDSU."
Jaridly, an explosive and versatile playmaker with a high soccer IQ, scored 22 goals as a freshman at Chino Hills High School. He got off to a great start to his sophomore season, scoring five goals in two games, before suffering a season-ending injury. His junior season was then wiped out due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"After speaking to Coach Hopkins, it seemed obvious he was building something special at San Diego State that I wanted to be part of," Jaridly said. "He has great credentials and has won at the highest level of college soccer. He has also hired great assistants that know how to help build a successful program and culture. That, along with a great incoming 2020 class, led me to see a bright future for this program."
Playing for Strikers FC, Jaridly has appeared in 17 matches (12 starts) and scored five goals over the past year.
