Nov 16, 2020

SALT LAKE CITY – Team captains were selected over the weekend for the Utah lacrosse team with sophomores Samuel Cambere, Rylan Lemons and Jonathan Rose chosen by their teammates to lead the squad heading into the 2021 campaign.
"All three bring a different set of qualities that they will lead from, but the common theme they possess is their commitment and love for their teammates, their commitment and love for our Pillars and their commitment and love for the game of Lacrosse," Holman explained. "I cannot wait to work with them this season and watch them lead our team to the highest levels!!"
Cambere enters his third year with the Utes having started in 15-of-21 games and has totaled nine points (4g, 5a) to go with 80 groundballs, 30 caused turnovers and five faceoff victories. The Flower Mound, Texas, product was named a College Crosse All-Freshman Second-Team honoree after solid first season with the Utes.
"I'm just grateful my teammates trusted me for this role and am excited for the season with this group of guys," exclaimed Cambere on the honor.
Like Cambere, Lemons also plays on the defensive side of the ball for the Utes. The Windsor, Colo., native saw action in 14 games so far in a Utah uniform and has recorded 11 groundballs and one caused turnover to go with his lone assists last season.
"I'm very honored to be a captain this year," said Lemons, after getting the news. "Leadership isn't always making friends and influencing people. Leadership is lifting a person's vision to high sights. I'm going to do my best to make my teammates better every day and raise our performance level to win."
Last, but not least, is Rose – who plays on the offensive side of things as a midfielder. The elder of the Rose brothers on the team, has seen action in 19 career games. Hailing from Atlanta, Ga., Rose has posted 11 groundballs with three caused turnovers to go with one goal to his name so far.
"I'm truly honored and blessed to be elected captain from such a special group of guys," Rose said after being selected as a team captain. "It's going to be a special spring and I look forward to competing alongside my brothers. Go Utes!"
