Junior Golf Association of Arizona Honors Standout Golfers of 2020 | Calynne Rosholt Signs with Women's Golf

TEMPE, Ariz. – Sun Devil Women's Golf class of 2021 signee Calynne Rosholt was named the Junior Golf Association of Arizona (JGAA) Girls Championship Player of the Year, as the association announced their special award winners for the 2020 season.

The JGAA awards a Player of the Year in 10 different categories, with the top junior golfers in the state competing in the Championship Division. With Rosholt earning the crown in 2020, it is the fifth consecutive year a current or future Sun Devil was selected as the JGAA Girls Championship Player of the Year. Sun Devil Women's Golf freshman Ashley Menne earned the distinction an incredible four years in a row (2016-19), becoming the first golfer to win the award more than two times.

Rosholt placed sixth or better in all nine JGAA-sponsored events she entered. Two of her four wins came in coveted PING Jr Masters Series tournaments. At the Thunderbird Invitational, Rosholt was the only individual under par, closing out the tournament with four-consecutive birdies. Her second win came at the Willie Low Invitational presented by MJ Insurance, as she birdied the final hole to enter a three-way tie for first place. She earned another co-victory at the Desert Mashie Championship as well as an outright win at the Chandler City Junior Golf Championship. She finished the season with a 71.19 scoring average over 16 rounds.

The Cactus Shadows product signed with Sun Devil Women's Golf last month, giving Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye and Associate Head Coach Michelle Estill one of the top classes in the country. Rosholt was one of the most highly-pursued recruits nationally, but chose to stay in Arizona, where she has spent her last two years competing for the Falcons. Originally from Cedar Park, Texas, Rosholt has immense experience in junior tournaments and was recently tabbed as the No. 13 overall prospect in the 2021 class by Golf Channel.

"We are very excited to welcome Calynne to our Sun Devil Golf family," Coach Farr-Kaye stated back in November when Rosholt officially signed. "She is a very talented young lady and we can't wait for her to join us."

Currently ranked as a Top-400 amateur, Rosholt has peaked as high as No. 278 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings.Earlier in November, she ended her prep career on the perfect note, capturing the 2020 AIA Division II State Championship at Tucson National - Catalina Course. She blew away the field with a 141 (-5) over two rounds, winning the event by an impressive eight strokes. Rosholt set the tone with a brilliant 69 (-4) in the first round, the lowest score of any golfer at the tournament. She nearly led Cactus Shadows to the Team State Championships, as the Falcons finished in second-place by two strokes.

In the 2019 AIA Division II State Championship, Rosholt went toe-to-toe with some of the state's top golfers. She carded a 138 (-4) to earn third place as a junior, only finishing behind two seniors. Rosholt played her best under pressure, shooting 66 (-5) in the deciding round, the lowest score of any golfer. The Falcons placed second in the Team Standings thanks to her efforts. Rosholt was named to the AZ Central All-Arizona High School Golf First Team and was a finalist for Female Golfer of the Year, an award that went to current Sun Devil Women's Golf freshman Ashley Menne (four-time winner).

Rosholt has an extensive background competing in junior tournaments. Most recently, she won the Thunderbird Invitational Ping Junior Masters Series Tournament hosted at Papago Golf Course, the home of Sun Devil Women's Golf. Fellow future Sun Devil Preston Summerhays, signee of the Sun Devil Men's Golf program, won on the men's side. She is a back-to-back winner at the Women's Southern Amateur (2018 & 2019), winning her first title at 15 years old. In July, Rosholt finished second at the Under Armour/Jordan Speith Championship. She recorded Top-10 finishes at both the 2019 Texas Women's Stroke Play Championship and the 2019 PING Heather Farr Classic. She was victorious at the 2019 Hunter Mahan Junior Championship and finished third at the Sergio Garcia Junior Championship a few weeks later at University of Texas Golf Course.

Lynne (Mikulas) Rosholt, the mother of Calynne Rosholt, played for recent LPGA Professional Hall of Fame inductee Linda Vollstedt at Arizona State. She was also a teammate of current Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye. Rosholt was a part of the 1990 team that captured the program's first NCAA Title. Rosholt received Pac-10 All-Conference Honorable Mention distinction in 1989. Calynne's sister, Chandler, is also a decorated golfer currently a. member of the Auburn Women's Golf program.

"The maroon and gold runs deep in her family," Coach Farr-Kaye remarked. "Calynne will be a great addition to our team next year."

The Sun Devil Women's Golf coaching staff of Missy Farr-Kaye and Michelle Estill continue to accumulate talent, adding yet another decorated golfer to the fold for the 2021-22 season. Already widely regarded as one of the top recruiting staffs in the nation, the Arizona State coaches are now equipped with arguably the top golf facility in the nation. With a long tradition of producing golfers who are ready for the next level, the Sun Devils have been able attract some of the top talent from around the World.
