Dec 4, 2020

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - The Utah diving team starts off the season with a successful showing on the first day of the Lumberjack Diving Invite at NAU, taking home two first place finishes on both events competed Friday afternoon.

"I'm thrilled with how we competed today and I am really excited that our team had this opportunity to get out there and dive," said head diving coach Richard Marschner when looking back on the performance. "We've been working incredibly hard and we have always been so positive through all this so I'm just happy for the divers that it has paid off.  Walking away with two victories and a 3rd place finish against teams like UCLA and Arizona is a big accomplishment for us."

Junior Tony Chen led the Utes in their first action of the 2020-21 season, placing first on the 1m with a score of 353.95 against competitors from Arizona and Grand Canyon. Rounding out the 1m for the Utes, sophomore Chase Hindmarsh placed sixth with a score of 229.15.

On the women's side, Lizzy DeCecco tallied a first-place finish on the 3m with a score of 279.80 to top fellow Pac-12 and WAC foes.  Emma Ruchala had a strong showing as well and placed third with a score of 271.90, while Lexi Mills placed sixth overall with a score of 261.40.
