Ute Divers Finish Strong At Lumberjack Invite
Flagstaff, Ariz. – The University of Utah diving team finished the Lumberjack Diving Invitational with two third place finishes on the women's 1m and the men's platform to close out the three-day event on Sunday afternoon.
"We had a great weekend of competition winning three of the six events while coming away with three third place finishes as well," head diving coach Richard Marschner noted on this weekend's performances. "I couldn't have asked for much more from our team as they really laid it out there. We're just very motivated to keep working and keep our momentum going."
Finishing off the weekend, senior Emma Ruchala placed third in the 1m with a score of 267.30 to lead the group of Utes competing. Along with Ruchala's finish in the 1m, Lizzy DeCecco came away with a seventh-place finish with a score of 250.25, and Regan Caufield, who came in 10th , scoreda 244.60. Rounding out the women in the 1m, sophomore Lexi Mills finished in 16th with a score of 211.75.
Heading over to the platform on the men's side, redshirt sophomore Luke McDivitt finished his weekend strong with third place with an impressive score of 328.80. Sophomore Chase Hindmarsh followed right behind his teammate in fourth with a score of 257.40. Overall, the Ute divers had a phenomenal weekend in their first time out this season where they competed against divers from Arizona, UCLA, Northern Arizona, Grand Canyon, Idaho and New Mexico State.
