Beavers Fall to Pilots
CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State men's basketball team dropped an overtime matchup to Portland 87-86 Thursday evening at Gill Coliseum.
Ethan Thompson led the Beavers with 31 points, while Maurice Calloo put up 18 points on 7-for-12 shooting.
Jarod Lucas went for 14 points and Warith Alatishe tallied nine points and 11 rebounds. Zach Reichle dished out seven assists.
The teams traded punches early on, as the Beavers held a 19-17 lead mid-way through the first half. The Pilots headed to the break up 36-29.
Oregon State came out strong in the second half, retaking the lead less than five minutes in to the period.
The Beavers used an 8-0 run to create some separation in the middle part of the second half, but the Pilots continued to fight, tying the game with under a minute to play to force overtime.
The teams went back and forth in the extra period, with Portland coming away with the narrow victory.
Oregon State will be back at Gill Coliseum Wednesday when it takes on UTSA. That game will tip at 2 p.m.
