Washington State-California Football Game Canceled

Dec 12, 2020

Pac-12 Statement Regarding California at Washington State Football Game
The Pac-12 today, Dec. 12, issued the following statement regarding the Cal at Washington State football game previously scheduled to kick off today at 1p PT / 2p MT.

"The Pac-12 has, after consultation with Cal, canceled the Cal at Washington State football game scheduled for later today, Saturday, December 12.  This decision was made under the Pac-12's football game cancellation policy due to Cal not having the minimum number of scholarship student-athletes available for the game as a result of one positive football student-athlete COVID-19 case confirmed via a PCR test today and resulting isolation of additional football student-athletes under contact tracing protocols.  Under Conference policy, the game will be declared a no contest.

"The cancelation of this game is very disappointing to our student-athletes and our fans.  While all of us want to see our football student-athletes on the field competing, our number one priority must continue to be the health and safety of all those connected to Pac-12 football programs."

Washington State University Director of Athletics Pat Chun Statement
"Today is another unfortunate reality in this 2020 college football season. We understand the decision to cancel the game and appreciate the communication and transparency from our colleagues at Cal. We share in the disappointment for all the student-athletes who prepared for today's game. I do want to offer a heartfelt thank you and express my continued admiration to our WSU student-athletes, coaches and staff. Our 2020 team continues to persevere in spite of the challenges brought on by COVID-19. Ultimately, we will continue to support each other, get through the disappointment of today and begin preparations for our next opponent."
